Pagan Sunday Brunch for March 2009

March 29th, 2008, 10 am sharp
Orange Cafe ** NEW LOCATION **
4011, boulevard Décarie
Montréal (NDG)
(514) 487-5455
Breakfast: $5 - $10

The Pagan Sunday Brunch is moving location! We are trying a new cafe in NDG, conveniently located between Villa Maria and Vendome metro stations.

**IMPORTANT**: This cafe fills up very quickly, so make sure you arrive at 10am if you want to get a seat.

Come join your fellow pagans for brunch and socializing at the Orange Cafe. No level of pagan experience is necessary, but as long as you can wield a knife and fork like a guru master, you'll be respected and admired by your peers.

This is a kid-friendly event, so feel free to bring your offspring.

If you have any questions, email me at jdhobbes @ yahoo.ca. If you don't know anybody, don't fret. We'll be in the room on the right of the door, in the centre of the room.

Presenter: Sonya Ocampo-Gooding

A Sheela-na-gig is an enigmatic medieval figure that is seen by some as an early feminist image and by others as an object of male oppression. This presentation will discuss the image of the "Sheela", its origins, and its role as a source of spiritual inspiration in the landscape of Ireland past.

The Sheela in the Killinaboy Church of County Clare will be considered in detail. A broader connection will also be explored between the Sheela and the "Mother Goddess" as a universal figure in various cultures of the world.

6TH Annual U.C.P.G. Midgard Festival returns to Whispering Pines Campground.

Press Release
Midgard at the Pines May 16-18, 2009

The 6th Annual U.C.P.G. Midgard Festival will be returning to Whispering Pines, in Curan Ontario, this year after being held at Sunward for the past two. This decision was made due to the need of shelter which was lacking at Sunward.

Midgard, as any other outdoor event being held that weekend, as received its share of rain as well as some terrific sunny days. For this reasons negotiations with the owner of Whispering Pines being fruitful the Upper Canada Pagan Gatherings events organizers decided to move the Midgard to Whispering Pines for it’s annual gathering.

“Midgard being a Norse based festival is open to all who wish to explore Norse traditions and not only those that follow Asatru.”

There was an order placed for plenty of wood for Midgard 2009. Above the number of chords ordered specifically for Midgard some will also be left over from the U.C.P.G. Men’s Retreat which will also be at Whispering Pines on April 24-26, 2009.

“The festivities will be centered on the Kitchen Cabin. It is important to note that the Gazebo is not part of the festivities building this year.”

Midgard offers a chance for those feeling a need to test equipment and be amongst like minded individuals to gather for the May long weekend. Activities planned for this year include some workshops as well as a main ritual and as always the great feast. As always Midgard will be providing a large piece of beef cooked on the BBQ and a great potluck which all usually contributes to.

Yan asked at last year Midgard Festival “Do you believe Midgard was a success this year?” Pagan Owl responded “Look at all these people sharing this meal drinks, stories, laughter, and great company. How can it fail when bonds like these are created every year?”

This year, thanks to Bob AKA Silver Sage, Midgard as a brand new plaque for the winner of the Bardic Competition. Even tho this competition is light hearted and plenty entertaining, this year people will compete for this plaque,

The website should be updated soon. For more information simply send an e-mail to ucpagangathering@yahoo.ca or join the Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2350173094

See you at Midgard 2009.
