Pagan Sunday Brunch for November/December 2009

** IMPORTANT **
As you know, November's Pagan Sunday Brunch was moved to the weekend of the Yule Fair, but the spot I had picked (Oxford Cafe) has gone out of business on Ste. Catherine Street. Curses!

So a new spot has been reserved:  Resto Burgers & Benedicts in the Pepsi Forum. We'll see you there at 10am next Sunday!

===============================
December 6th 2009, 10 am sharp
Resto Burgers & Benedicts
2313 rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest (AMC)
(514) 228-5210
Breakfast: <$15

What should have been the last Sunday of November, we have moved it to the following week so that you can also enjoy the Yule Fair at Melange Magique. Also, we have changed the venue so that you can easily walk up to street to attend the Yule Fair after breakfast.

Come join your fellow pagans for brunch and socializing. No level of pagan experience is necessary, but as long as you can wield a knife and fork like a guru master, you'll be respected and admired by your peers.

This is a kid-friendly event, so feel free to bring your offspring.

If you have any questions, email me at jdhobbes @ yahoo.ca. If you don't know anybody, don't fret. We'll be in the room on the right of the door, in the centre of the room.

The Yule Fair for 2009 is fast approaching (December 5th and 6th) and we've been working on completing the program of lectures, workshops, and events for it.

Click here to see a PDF of the somewhat final draft of the program. There are still a couple of bios missing, but very little of the program should change between now and the weekend of December 5/6.

Contact us if you have any questions!

December 3rd Discussion Night: The Power of Dreams

Greetings,

The MPRC discussion nights are held every first Thursday of the month.
Upcoming discussion:

Topic: The Power of Dreams
Date: December 3rd 2009
Time: 6h45pm to 8h45pm
Location: At the Melange Magique Boutique 1928 Ste-Catherine St.West
Cost: FREE (donations to the MPRC welcomed)

What happens to our minds when we are sleeping? What has science to say concerning the explanation of dreaming? How often do you remember your dreams? Have some dreams felt they had more “meaning” to them than simply randomness? Did its “fabric” seem different than regular ones? How valid are book references to dream interpretation versus your own personal understandings? Do you believe dreams can be prophetic, or simply a subconscious influence? What role does the subconscious play? What is your opinion on the theories of collective prophetic dreaming? Do you believe in a collective consciousness in which we tap into when we sleep? What is your take on lucid dreaming? Do you believe that dreaming is an alternate reality which can influence our being and experiences? Can you control your dreams? Is it all simply "wishful thinking" that dreams have messages to provide us?

Come and discuss!

REMINDER TONIGHT: MPRC Discussion Night: Mythology and Legends: The Value of Storytelling

Greetings!

The MPRC discussion night is held every first Thursday of the month at Melange Magique.

Upcoming Discussion:

Topic: Mythology and Legends: The value of Story-Telling

Date: Thursday, Nov.05.2009
Time: 18h45-20h45
Location: At the MPRC in the Melange Magigue 1928 Ste-Catherine Ouest, Montreal
Cost: None. Donations welcomed.

Every religion, faith or belief system has their myths, legends and stories. Why are we so attracted to them? How can classic epic stories such as King Arthur, Noah, the stories of Heracles, Taliesin, Thor’s battle with the Giants, the adventures of Sigurd(Sigfried), so on and so forth, influence our value system? How were our ancestors influenced by such stories? Are these stories holding any hidden messages for us to discover? What has happened to our love of story-telling and how is our society shaped by the “old legends” today? How have these legends manifested themselves in the story-telling of today? How has pushing the limits of our imagination helped us understand the unknown?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions,

Selena

Bonjour !

Selena

Radio Interview on Paganism in Montreal

Last week, Scarlet and I were interviewed on CKUT about Neo-Paganism on a show called The Big Idea. If you didn't hear about it, I'm not surprised. I got the call (by accident) the day before and the interview itself was at 7:30am.

But if you're curious, you can listen to the interview by going to this website:
